François Adam ROBERT °1728, maître d'école de Hestroff

François Adam ROBERT, fils de Thimothée et Elisabeth HENNEQUIN, père de Mathieu anobli par Louis XV, est né à Hestroff le samedi 27 mai 1702. Son parrain est Adam SIBERT, curé de Guerstling et sa marraine Françoise SCHWEISS, mère de Damien HENWEILLER curé de la paroisse, née à Varize.

Maître d'école comme son père, François Adam quitte le village après la naissance de son premier fils en 1729, y revient en 1740 pour y enseigner jusqu'en 1749.

Avant de quitter Hestroff, François Adam s'y était marié en janvier 1728 avec Marie GERARDIN, dont le père Nicolas est régent d'école dans la paroisse de Drogny, et un frère, Mathias, cité docteur en Sorbonne en 1750 et aussi chanoine à Chartres dans la Beauce. Il est intéressant de signaler que Marie signe, fait rare à une époque où peu de femmes étaient lettrées.

François Adam décède dans son village natal à l'âge de 74 ans le 6 août 1776, soit 3 ans après la réception des orgues léguées par son fils Mathieu à l'église paroissiale. Lors de son enterrement seront présents son beau-frère Jean-Paul GERARDIN, maître tailleur à Vaudreching et sa belle-soeur Elisabeth demeurant à Bouzonville. Sont également présents Jean Antoine MÜLLER, curé de la paroisse depuis 1741 et Frédéric RAUBER, le nouveau maître d'école.
